    • !NAMED: 2 Apr 1694 Henrico Co, VA Records 1688/1697-479 transferred 50 acres of land from "Gilbert ELAM and Gilbert ELAM Jr, of County and Parish of Henrico, the husband and eldest son of Ann ELAM, deceased, the daughter and heiress of Robert ELAM of the county aforesaid also deceased, to Joseph ROYAL...." A bond given by Gilbert Sr and Jr at the same time warranted the title to this tract of land and stated that this land was originally transferred "to Robert ELAM, grandfather to the above-named Gilbert ELAM Jr." (Henrico County Records 1688-97, pp 479-481) -- as cited by Harvey Elam in his book The Elam Family, 1933;
