!NOTE:Maiden name given as James on D/C of daughter Ella James Rogers, Thomas L. Turner was the informant, Ella's nephew,
(1) Sophie's grandson. This could be a typical death certificate error (listing the mother's married name instead of maiden), but in this case it may be correct, and she was also a James.
(2) The D/C of daughter Eliza Joanna also lists her mother as a James, though as Sapphira James, but close enough. Is this confirmation of maiden name? Or just a 2nd example of someone not knowing or not following directions.
(3) The D/C of son Ella lists father as Pink James b SC and mother as "Safire Bryant" b Robeson Co., NC
Sarah Bryant 60, possible widow, is two houses from Pinkney and Sophia in 1850. I don't know who she is. Is she Sophia's mother?

!NOTES:Birth place is South Carolina per her 1850 and 1860 census entries. Not found in 1870. Her 1880 entry lists her as born in NC and both parents born NC as well.
- Confirmed by *some* of her children's 1880, 1900, etc. census entries though listed as SC in some cases;

* If she is a James, only Thomas James in Marion had a daughter her age, under 10 (1810/20). Doesn't prove he was her father though (see 1830 notes below for why this probably isn't Sophia).
* If a Bryant from Robeson, only Jacob Bryant there in 1820 had a daughter her age;

* (1) Edwin James had daughter her age, 10-14 (1815/20). He moved away shortly, so probably not him.
* (2) William James also had one daughter her age.
* Rhoda James, widow of Thomas (from 1820) did not have a matching daughter, but had one 15-19, who is probably same one from 1820, so probably not Sophia.
* If she's a Bryant from Robeson, none of the Bryants in that county in 1830 had a daughter her age;
