Mr. Campbell was a life member of Winnsboro Masonic Lodge, the VFW, the Hejaz Shrine, the American Legion, and The Somerset Chapter Magna Charta Barons. He was instrumental in the promotion and organization of the Greenville and Pee Dee Chapters of South Carolina Genealogical Society, Colonel Elias Earle Historic District (Greenville), and Old Ebenezer Memorial and Historical Association of Marion, S.C. He served in the U.S Navy, World War II, 1941-1946, serving in Naval Air Group aboard the USS Hornet CV-8 (the ship that launched Doolittle Raiders), and later on Guadalcanal and Russell Islands. > >Mr. Campbell was a unique and special person to his family and all who knew him. His energy in pursuing causes for heritage, freedom and justice were well known.
