"Edward Carter was born May the 29 in the year of our Lord 1761
Marey Carter his wife (of Edward Carter) was born May the 20 in year of our Lord 1758 her father his surname was Brown Joseph";
!NOTES:The bible record contradicts other researchers claims that Mary's father was Daniel Brown. It was probably assumed that Mary Brown was a sister of Jane Brown (proven d/o Daniel) who married John Carter. Brothers marrying sisters was common enough. However, the Bible record contradicts that, and does explain why Edward was dismissed for marrying a non Quaker even though Daniel Brown and family were Quakers. Apparently Joseph Brown was not.
- It wouldn't be surprising to find that this Joseph Brown was a brother to Daniel Brown as they lived in the same area.
- Daniel had a son named Joseph who potentially could be the same Joseph who is Mary's father, if he was Daniel's oldest, and from a prior marriage. Just speculation;
