Notes - !COURT: 5 Nov 1771 Rowan Co., NC Court Minutes 1753-1772 p. 300 (note does not say who they are orphans of, probably not James Grant).
On Motion of Alex Martin. Ordered by the court that David Grant, orphan, be bound until William Brown to learn the art and Mistry of a house carpender (sic) and serve for and during the term of ten years and 3 months and his said master is to give him at the expiration of his said time the sum of five pounds over & above what the law saith.
On motion of John Dunn. Ordered by the court that Isaac Grant orphan be bound unto William Moore to learn the art and mistery of a weaver he being now 7 years & 10 months old & to serve 13 years and 9 months and his master is to give his sd apprentice the sum of five pounds over and above what the law directs;
!NOTE:Isaac GRANT applied for a Pension for Revolutionary service. The pension was denied because it could not be proven that he was the Isaac GRANT who served. He stated in 1849 that he was 85 years old (born ca 1763/64). Isaac GRANT was in Burke NC in 1790 and was in Grainger County, TN by 1798. Burke County bordered on Rutherford County, but no relationship is known with the Rutherford County Grants. Burke also bordered on Wilkes County, it is possible that this Isaac is related to John GRANT of Wilkes County. John GRANT had a grandson named Isaac X. GRANT (born 1824);
