Lexington—A memorial service for William Andrew “Andy” Koon, 70, of Lexington will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church, 3520 Mineral Springs Road, Lexington, SC 29073 with Pastor Shawn Barr and Pastor Don Bell officiating. The interment with military honors will follow in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
Born in Newberry, SC on April 22, 1948 he was the son of the late William Franklin Koon and Betty Grey Smith Koon. Andy passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his residence in the presence of his loving family. He was a graduate of Eau Claire High School, class of 1968. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, in the US Army. Andy was formerly employed by Southern Bell. Andy was a loving husband, Daddy and Papa.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Judy Campbell Koon; daughter, Veronica Koon; sisters, Jo Ellen White (Scott), Karen Jones, Vickie Wiley (Randy), and Marlene Walker; brother, Sam Koon (Betsy); loving mother-in-law, Lucille D. Campbell; grandchildren, Kimberley, Bubba, and Drew; beloved family dogs, Taco, Lilly and LouLou. Those who have preceded him in death besides his parents, brother, Frankie Koon.
In lieu of flowers, the Koon family request that memorials be made to Lexington County Fire Department, 436 Ball Park Road, Lexington, SC 29072 for the excellent care give to Mr. Koon. Also a special thanks to the Oak Grove Fire Department Station #9 for their loving care.
